Theta Phi Alpha national sorority was founded on August 30, 1912 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was founded under the guidance of Bishop Edward P. Kelly, Auxiliary Bishop of Detroit. In September of that same year at the University of Michigan, the ten founding sisters took on their first new member class. The Articles of Association of Theta Phi Alpha were signed September 28, 1912 and recruitment began that day at the first Theta Phi Alpha sorority house at 811 East Huron Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Since then there have been thousands of young women initiated into the organization. |

In September of 1990, Theta Phi Alpha came to Bridgewater State College. Once a local sorority named Delta Psi Rho, the chapter decided to affiliate with a national sorority to expand its sisterhood.
Our Philanthropies
Our national philanthropy supports Glenmary Home Missioners who work with needy persons in depressed rural areas of the United States. Some of our local philanthropies include: Greek God and Goddess to raise money for the AT foundation, reading to children at a local library, making turkey baskets to give to needy families for Thanksgiving, and helping the Catholic Center with their community services. |
